Technology and advantages


LANDCO biogas plants provide a comprehensive solution for recycling organic waste to produce heating and electricity, complex fertilizers and clean water, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions.


Integrating LANDCO's proprietary equipment module makes it possible to eliminate the costs associated with the disposal and treatment of processed waste. The system makes it possible to convert the wastewater produced by various companies into 85% distilled water and 15% liquid fertilizers. After evaporation and mixing with vermicompost, polynutrient microbiological fertilizer is produced, accounting for just 5% of input substrate. This more concentrated fertilizer, unlike that produced from traditional fermented mass biogas plants, is suitable for sale and transportation and provides an additional source of revenue.


LANDCO and Agrobiotech's patented technologyenables waste disposal at a high level of humidity (98-99%), and is also distinguished by the minimal organic content in the resultant processed waste, together with the total extraction of biogas.


 

LANDCO's non-waste technology and advanced engineering solutions provide a combination of revenue sources. That means biogas plant investment projects do not require subsidies, and offer a total return investment in just three to five years. Our offer differs from conventional biogas technology that does not address the problem of waste. During fermentation in conventional biogas plants, the ammonium content of the substrate is increased, leading to the formation of nitrate and nitrite. In fact, traditional biogas technology turns one type of waste into a product that is even more harmful for the environment.


Distributors at traditional biogas plants make this product available as biofertiliser and store it in lagoons before spreading it on fields. This approach can work at some smaller stations, common in Europe, but in the Russian context, where only large-scale projects are cost-effective, the use of traditional biogas technology requires huge investments in storage and removal of waste, and the environmental issue is not addressed.


In 2013, the EU responded to the environmental issues associated with the existing network of biogas stations by adopting legal amendments that require station owners to process biogas waste responsibly, by producing clean water and polynutrient microbial fertilizers.


Applying total processing technology to the fermented mass that leaves the biogas plant ensures that no recycling costs are incurred. This reduces the time needed to achieve total return on investment by at least 200%.


In fact, the revenue from the sale of managed waste frequently exceeds the revenue from the sale of energy. In this case, comparing biogas plants by the cost per kilowatt of installed capacity with other types of renewable energy sources is meaningless, because the installation is a recycling facility whose environmental component alone is sufficient to return its initial investment. Other sources of revenue, including sales from energy, are simply a bonus.
